SimsHost Opens to Offer Hosting to More Games!

The idea came up while were talking to webmasters of the sites we already host. For more than two years, SimsHost's policy has been to host only fan sites for The Sims. Then we realized that the Sims-only policy begs the question, "Why not other simulation games?"

After all, fan sites for many games have the same hosting problems, where the downloads burn up so much bandwidth that the sites get knocked off line, and many fans of The Sims enjoy other games, too.

We could find no cogent answer to the why not question, so here we are!

Our plan is to just open SimsHost to any game site that would benefit from our little solution to the hosting and bandwidth costs. Your one subscription will still have access to all the sites, no matter what game they're about.

To celebrate this new policy, Kelly, the webmaster for The Sim Republic has already created a brand new site for her work on Zoo Tycoon! What other games' fan sites would you like to see available on SimsHost? Please tell us about it in the Yahoo groups for Moon Sims or SimsHost!

Now the we are in our third terrific year, we thought you would like to know that the sites hosted by SimsHost taken collectively are still by far the largest site for The Sims in the world. Well, in all ways but one: We still have the lowest subscription cost of any site.

Continuing subscribers are paying only $2.00 a month (plus about a tenth of a penny per download on the average). That's about a third the cost of a typical stand-alone subscription site, for access to a hundred times as many downloads. We are pleased and proud to be able to do this while allowing each site to retain its own individual personality, even as SimsHost continues to grow.
