The Alienware Computer and the Pink Flamingo

Way back in the early days of Sims fan sites we saw a lot of recolored plastic lawn flamingos offered for download. Did you ever wonder why fan artists seemed to be obsessed with that silly pink flamingo?

The Flamingo Phenomenon happened because the pink flamingo from The Sims was the object that appeared in the tutorial for Transmogrifier, the program used to extract from the game and import them back in. Most Sims fan artists started learning their craft with the ubiquitous flamingo, and many offered their clever variations on the flamingo for download.

With The Sims 2, we see the same phenomenon occurring with the Alienware computer. It's the first independent object available for the game, so the artists are honing their skills on it as they wait for access to the other objects from the game. You will find several variations on the computer in the site updates below, and the good news is that your sims will have lots more fun with the computers than they did with those bally flamingos!

The good news is that we can reasonably expect that the wait won't be too long, at least for sites hosted by SimsHost! Stay tuned to the SimsHost Chronicle for developing news!
